Benefits of membership
The Society sponsors two exhibitions a year. The Member’s Invitational, normally held each fall, is open to any member in good standing. 
All levels of accomplishment are exhibited together and all submitted work is accepted for the exhibition. Awards are given by MOWS.
The Watercolor Missouri International, normally held each spring, is ‘Judged for Selection’ by a nationally and/or internationally respected and awarded watercolorist. Any water media artist, whether a member or not, may submit work for selection into the exhibition. Significant cash and material awards are awarded by a nationally and/or internationally respected and awarded watercolorist.
Regularly, the Society publishes a magazine, Watercolor Studio, with information about the activities of the Society and its members, exhibition and workshop possibilities and articles about painting techniques and other interesting aspects of painting in water media.
Members of the Society also have an opportunity to showcase their work inexpensively in an on-line exhibition on the MOWS web site.
Additionally, MOWS members have the exclusive right to exhibit in the beautiful MOWS Gallery presently located at 3825 Washington Ave., St. Louis, MO 63103.
Levels of Membership
- Most individuals join as Regular Members (artist) or as Patrons (non-artist).
- Signature status is awarded to artists who have been accepted into two WATERCOLOR MISSOURI INTERNATIONAL exhibitions. The awarded artists are allowed to use MOWS after their name.
- Honorary status is awarded by the organization to artists who have made a significant contribution to the visual arts.
- Membership is calendar and renewed annually.
- Life Members are exempt from paying annual membership & exhibition entrance fees. A one-time payment of $400.00 is required.
